How are you doing everyone? Doing great I believe. Okay, let’s cut to the chase, shall we!
Hebrews 12 v 1 (GNT) says “As for us, we have this large crowd of witnesses around us. So then, let us rid ourselves of everything that gets in the way, and of the sin which holds on to us so tightly, and let us run with determination the race that lies before us.”
Ephesians 2 v 10 (NKJV) says
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
God had already before the foundation of the world; before we were conceived in our mother’s womb prepared a path for us all to walk, unto the fulfilment of God’s expected glory for our lives. (Jer.29 v 11) relates especially unto our hope of eternal glory with Him.
It is important that we don’t lose sight or focus on the marked path set for us for many have missed it, even amongst Christians (1 Tim 1 v 6). One of the significant ways is to examine the genuineness of our faith, is to reveal how much of “you” is hidden in Christ.
Col.3 v 3. Eph.4 v 20-22 (NKJV) says
“But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man who grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts”
This coincides perfectly with the Bible text in that if truly we are in union with Christ; abiding and receiving knowledge of Him in His word; He will make revealed unto you His desired path set for you through the Holy Spirit. This, in addition, concerns those evidence of flesh that manifests itself as we journey with Him, some of which we most times term insignificant.
Songs of Solomon 2 v 15 (GNT) says
“Catch the foxes, the little foxes, before they ruin our vineyard in bloom.”
Our failure to take hold of such “little foxes” as God does reveal, has the potential of causing a shipwreck of our faith. Let us liken our lives to a mustard seed that God sought to grow into a mighty tree; that through us the world would be implored and blessed by the fruit Christ would have implanted in our hearts. Especially those God brings along the path set for us. This threatens the enemy, and one of his ploys in fighting against this is by working through our ignorance or unwillingness to deal with our little foxes.
Biblical examples like Gehazi, Queen Vashti, Samson, and Dinah were amongst many who lost focus of God’s path for their lives. This is attributed to their failure to deal with their little foxes evident in their lives.
- Gehazi had a greed issue making him lose out of the double portion of Prophet Elisha’s anointing (2 Kings 5 v 15-27).
- Queen Vashti had a pride issue (Esther 1 v 10-12).
- Samson for his love for the strange woman (Judges 16 v 4-6; Prov.22 v 14), comparable to the man in Proverbs 7:7 who was devoid of knowledge of God (Prov.7:1-7).
- Dinah, who had an issue of gathering amongst the wrong crowd (Gen.34 v 1-6) thus missing the mark of God’s predestined plan for their lives.
- Even Demas, a fellow worker with Apostle Paul (Philemon 1 v 24), who later on left the mark (2 Tim.4 v 10), lusting after the affairs of the world.
In addition, from the Bible text, our impatience can lead us into making hasty decisions in our lives, one of which is in our choice of relationship; towards marriage.
However, there were men who identified those little foxes; and upon realizing, came before the Father abundant in mercy. Christ helped and propelled them in taking the path set for them, unto fulfilling their destiny. Peter who denied Jesus (Luke 22:61, 62), became one of the founding fathers of the Christian faith. David who had a scandalous affair with Bathsheba; killing her husband became a child after God’s heart (1 Sam 13 v 14; Acts 13 v 22). Lastly, Rahab, once a prostitute became privileged of God being the great-grandmother of Jesus (Matt.1 v 5), amongst others.
In conclusion, I want to draw your hearts to a young lady in Lamentations 1 v 9 (GNT) which says
“Her uncleanness was easily seen, but she showed no concern for her fate. Her downfall was terrible; no one can comfort her. Her enemies have won, and she cries to the Lord for mercy.”
Be encouraged to yield solely unto God’s delivering hands being completely free from those little foxes that we find ourselves in constant indulgence. Our failure to open and be yielded unto God as regards this would make us stray away from God’s set path for us, thus making God’s plan to be of waste. God forbid! Wake up! Get up! Eph.5 v 14.
Prayer point: O Lord, examine me and prove me; try my mind and heart; if there be any little foxes evident in me, I do yield to your help that it may not cause a shipwreck of my faith (Psa. 26 v 2). The enemy shall not triumph over my life and destiny in Jesus name, Amen.
