They Call Me The Oprah Of Gospel

To be called the Oprah of Gospel is still a title of honour that still catches me off guard.

The first time that someone referred to me as one of my business inspirations I literally fell to the floor. Speechless. Nothing to say. And for someone to have me lost with no words is a big deal. As many of you may know Oprah Winfrey is a media tycoon. And as a woman of colour, the billionaire philanthropist has contributed to the media industry that has already listed her a living legacy.

I guess you could say that I fit the title. I am a journalist. An editor. I’ll become a talk show host when Bishop T.D. Jakes decides to pass on the mantle that mama Oprah gave to him. He is also my spiritual father so that for me would be a double impartation that I would require several prayer cloths for.

There is so much that I have been called to do in the Christian media industry that blows my mind. More so because part of me cannot believe that I am doing what I never thought I could achieve now, and because God already has me living my best life and to me, my life has only just begun. For me, structure and a solid foundation for the UK and Europe gospel industry are what I am striving to put in place. Platforms and social accounts are great but there is so much more to have in place for those that are coming up behind us to run on with. I am all about passing the baton, which is why I work as hard as I do to create something worth passing on.

We all have been given talents. Some 5, some 2 and some 1. However, it is what you do with what you have that, that makes you live a life you have never had before. And so for me, it is an honour and lifelong dream to meet my “mamma” and be able to chat and even interview her to bring this very article full circle. I have read about her life as a child, woman and businesswoman. We have a lot of similarities. But it was her choice to change her life which really impacted my journey on becoming The Oprah of Gospel.

My 2018 has kicked off to an incredible start. In my three years of running this platform, I have spoken with and have interviewed some incredible people. So it was a pleasant surprise when Sipho Bayeto, the author of Saving Scarlett asked to interview me to be featured on her platform.

I spoke to her about my life, my present and what I want for 2BRealMagazine as we move on into the future. You can take a read of the full article here. I would love to know your thoughts on what she called “The Oprah Of Gospel”. And in me starting my year of yes after reading Shonda Rhimes latest book, I am now saying yes to being available for features, speaking events and commisioned work if you know anyone that is looking for a faith-based writer, journalist or opinion.
