Never Give Up On What God Has Called You To Do

Here at 2BReal, we are all about analyzing trends taking place in the Kingdom

2BRealMagazine was birthed to celebrate great content, great people and great businesses that are representing the Christian faith. We pray that this series will be an inspiration to our readers not just here in the UK, but around the world and that the people’s lives will touch hearts, speak passion and birth purpose to all those that read our series.

Keion Henderson is the founder and senior pastor of The Lighthouse Church in Houston Texas. Known also as an artist and global; entrepreneur over the last 20 years, I managed to speak with one of the most influential millennial figures in an exclusive interview to learn about his balance across multiple platforms. Daily.

2BReal: Let’s start with the new music, sir! We are loving your latest single Holy. Can we expect more in the near future from you?

PKH: Thanks for the love! People around the world have shared how they’ve been blessed by the new single, Holy. I have a new album I will release on September 21 2018. Stay tuned!

2BReal: Now we know that you haven’t just started singing. When did you realise you loved to sing, and did it come before or after you realised you had the desire to preach?

PKH: My first interest in music dates back to the 6th grade while performing in a talent show. Two of my friends and I got together and formed a bootleg version of the singing group Jodeci, and sang “Forever my Lady” in the school’s talent show. It was hilarious.

2BReal: Tell us a little about your family. Did your mother or father preach or sing?

PKH: Neither of my parents was “singers” although they both loved music.

2BReal: How did you meet Mrs Henderson and how did you know she was the one?

PKH: I met my wife at a restaurant. There was only one seat left in the entire building and that was the one next to her. I sparked up a conversation and the rest was history.

2BReal: When did you know you were called to ministry and what has the journey taught you so far?

PKH: I was 14 when I acknowledged my call to ministry. The journey has taught me the importance of serving others, living out the call and making an impact on those around you.

2BReal: We’ve briefly heard about the first time you met Bishop T. D. Jakes. How did that moment impact your life back then, and how has it strengthened the relationship you have with him now?

PKH: I will always honour that milestone in my life and how it has shaped me in many ways. Bishop T.D. Jakes is a spiritual father to me and I am deeply grateful for the impact that his ministry and mentorship has had on my life. Bishop Jakes taught me a key component that I’d like to share with others. He taught me how to recognize what’s normal. Typically, stress is associated with things that you’re not familiar with. But when you know they are normal, you can handle them in a more expeditious way.

2BReal: Who are you inspired by and why?
PKH: I am inspired by so many people these days; it is hard to identify just one person. I find inspiration from the impact made by a myriad of men and women across both ministry and marketplace.

2BReal: You are the senior pastor at The Lighthouse Church. What did that entire process of building and maintaining a ministry and a building teach you?

PKH: More than anything, it has strengthened my heart for others and taught me the immeasurable value of service. Our ministry has been able to provide more than 150,000+ meals to our community in the past 5 years and given close to $1M in disaster relief to help those in need around the world.

2BReal: As an entrepreneur, senior pastor, husband and father, how do you balance your time?

PKH: With grace! I am actively engaged in every role and as a result, I am able to build each one with a clear perspective of their importance to my life.

2BReal: What has been the greatest challenge you have faced in building your brand,  business and ministry?

PKH: Maximizing time. There are countless projects that my team of more than 60 employees work on each day. Our goal is to capitalize on the time we have in an effort to make an impact on the world around us.

2BReal: How important is social media now to your personal brand and all that you are involved in?

PKH: Social media is a very important tool I use to communicate with almost 200k followers across platforms each day. It is essential to my personal brand and ministry.

2BReal: For those who may be inspired by what you do, what would be your advice for them in starting out?

PKH: My advice would be to spend time in prayer before you begin. Take the time to write out your vision, be clear about what you want to accomplish and surround yourself with like-minded visionaries. Never give up on what God has called you to do!

2BReal: As a minister of the Gospel and entrepreneur, what is your favourite scripture that gives you comfort, confidence and composure?

PKH: That’s a hard one! There are so many scriptures I love but I’d have to say that one of my favourite scriptures is Psalms 27.
