The UK Pioneer Series- Celebrating Noel Robinson

Here at 2BRealMagazine, we are all about honouring those who paved the way before us within the Christian and Gospel community.

The Christian and Gospel industry has been a pillar to the UK. There are trailblazers and visionaries who have proudly shared their ministry has influenced the world, which is why we wanted to celebrate the achievement of those who have done exactly that in this brand new series.

We want to share the truth, the milestones the challenges it took along the way to bring some of my personal role models to where they are today. We pray that this series will be an inspiration to you and that their story will bring perspective to wherever you are in your journey.

Noel Robinson is a recognised worship leader, songwriter and producer. Known globally as a man of God in the music industry, his ministry continues to impact lives as it has been for the past 30+years. In an exclusive one-off interview, he shares with me wisdom, transparency and life lessons that have made him the man that he is today.

2BReal: Tell me, what did UK Christian music sound like to you when you were growing up?
NR: Hymns, country and western music. Also early Andrae Crouch and The Hawkins family.
2BReal: What was it that inspired you to get into the music industry?
NR: My father and I started playing music at six years old and that was when I recognised that I was called by God into music.
2BReal: What were some of the challenges that you had to overcome as you began to grow quite notably within the industry as an artist?
NR: The biggest challenge was believing in myself, believing in the call of God in my life. Being a forerunner for something new that was happening in our community and learning to run with it.
2BReal: What have been some of your most memorable moments that have been achieved throughout your career to date?
NR: Leading worship at some of the most significant events in the UK leading at Wembley to leading at the House of Parliament- travelling across the globe leading at incredible impactful meetings from stadiums in Israel to stadiums in Africa in front of 120,000 people.
2BReal: Over the years your gift has allowed you to cross over into so many different areas of music and ministry. How has this trained, developed and nurtured your musical ear in creating musical trends?
NR: I began my musical journey at six years old listening to so many styles of music in my formative years and having studied classical and jazz has given me an appreciation of diverse genres of music. They have all impacted me at some point in my life so I try to use all the music that has influenced me to create the soundscape to my content.
2BReal: In your opinion, how has the evolution, influence and church ministry impacted the UK Christian and gospel music scene?
NR: I’m probably not the best one to actually decide that but my music ministry has spanned many years and I hope that it has influenced all that listen to it.
2BReal: Watching the new generation of music creatives rise up in their careers, what are some of the noticeable differences that you think both generations take for granted today?
NR: The recording process is much easier today. Technology has really helped the creatives to document their ideas quicker and ready their product for public consumption. It also has produced the armchair musician that has been introduced to the world.
2BReal: Who has been your biggest inspiration throughout your musical journey and why?
NR: There have been many along the way that it would be almost unfair to pull out anyone, but my father has been strong support and because of my gifting in music, I have met many incredible people who have supported and poured into me.
2BReal: What advice would you give to those who are looking to get into the music scene. What do they need in order to serve and survive within the music industry?
NR: I think an understanding of the system and how it works. Also, work on your gifting – it’s what people respond to. Music ministry always involves people so you must have the heart to serve the people you are called with your gift.
2BReal: What is favourite scripture that always delivers what you need and why?
NR: Isaiah 60:1 Arise and shine for your light has come and the glory of the Lord is risen up on you.
This scripture gives me purpose and keeps me focused on my assignment on the earth. I am a solution to someone’s problem. I am the blessing to someone’s life and all of it is because I choose to rise to the revelation of who I am in Christ!
