The Year of Lacking Nothing- Part 1
Bible Text: The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing- Psa.34 v 10 (NKJV)
Amongst one of the popular verses but specifically which marked the beginning, better still ushered in the ministry of our Lord and Saviour, Christ Jesus is John 2: 1- 12, the marriage at Cana, Galilee. I do wish to share with you in light of our Bible text about salient actions carried through by the couple which we could follow in like footsteps that would ensure our provision, lacking nothing as we continue to dominate 2019:
- “Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding” (v.2): One pertinent thing we must NEVER fail to do concerning any activity, decision or plan we might intend or intend to carry through is that CHRIST must be invited. Most times we tend to invite Him when after exhausting all of our strength or when we have reached the limit of what we can do that we return crying unto God, inviting him to salvage the situation. We must invite Him through our seeking FIRST His Kingdom (Matt.6 v 33), which entails committing all of our plans and works unto God
“Commit[a] your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass” (Psa.37v5), “Commit[a] your works to the Lord“(Prov.16v3).
In addition, to invite Him could be interpreted in our resting in the Lord
“Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him “(Psa.37v7a.)
This was revealed for us through the man, Isaac who in spite of the somewhat economic recession rested upon the promises of the God (Gen.26:1)
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me (Rev.3v20).”
Thus, God could knock and come into Isaac’s situation why? Because He rested (trusted) in God, remaining in Gerar (Gen.26v).
It is important to note that when it appeared there was lack as seen in John 2v3a, the mother of Jesus could approach Christ on behalf of the couple to inform him on the situation. This was only possible because JESUS WAS INVITED as revealed thus, “
In whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.” (Eph.3v12)
We will continue in part.2 of another action we must endeavour to act and follow in.
Reflection: As we continue through this year, critically examine areas where you might have not invited CHRIST to have a full room (Luke2v7) and will in carrying out your past decisions, plans and activities. Make a commitment to invite Him in all that concerns you and what He has in store for your 2019.
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ #Eph.1v2
